Knowledge management (KM) is the systematic management of an organisation's knowledge assets
to create value and meet tactical and strategic requirements. It consists of the
initiatives, processes, strategies and systems that sustain and enhance the storage,
assessment, sharing, refinement and creation of knowledge. While raw data are important,
it is often more important to focus on information products that support the direct transfer
of useful knowledge to those responsible for decision making. In other words, if we want our efforts
to be effective, we need to share knowledge about what works, why it works and how others can
replicate it.
Improved evidence-based decision making in the HIV response
ZNNP+ seeks to improve evidence-based HIV service delivery by relaying information related to the
experiences, preferences and values of PLHIV to healthcare practitioners, decision-makers and other
stakeholders. By making this information available, these stakeholders will be able to understand what
works, why it works, what does not work and why and how others can replicate that which works. By so
doing, it will be possible to improve health outcomes for PLHIV in their diversity.
Target
During the planning period, it is annticipated that the percentage of decisions that are influenced/informed
by evidence generated by ZNNP+ and its structures will increase from 75% to 95% by 2025.
Interventions - To achieve the target of increasing the influence of evidence-based
decisions, ZNNP+ intends to implement the following interventions:.
Strengthening monitoring, evaluation and data management processes for PLHIV networks and structures
Collaborative research partnerships
Establishment of a “basket reporting platform” for all PLHIV stakeholders to consolidate and demonstrate the contribution of the sector towards the
national HIV response
Production and dissemination of policy and technical briefs
Developing research capacity of members, networks and organisations
Strengthening documentation of success stories at all levels
Community-led monitoring
Conferences, publications, media campaigns
Participating in exhibitions, trade fairs and conferences
Strengthening platforms for information sharing, including the ZNNP+ website, other websites for the networks and organisations, and social media platforms
Facilitation of exchange visits for learning and knowledge sharing
